Training Opportunities
In addition to clinical services to families, our mission is to train professionals so they are empowered to provide family-centered, coordinated primary care to children with disabilities.
Training rotation at Center of Hope:
One or two months rotations may be available to physicians, nurses, allied health care professionals, social workers or other health care professionals interested in gaining additional knowledge and skills in assessing and caring for children with developmental, behavioral and learning concerns and children with known disabilities. Availability for rotations will depend on the level and availability of faculty supervision required. Participants may receive a syllabus, attend lectures and participate in clinics.
Developmental Disabilities Review Course (DDRC):
DDRC is a one-week accredited continuing education course in developmental disabilities for practicing health and education professionals. It is held three times each summer during Camp CAMP Children's Association for Maximum Potential). All trainees attend classes in the morning and volunteer their professional services as an interdisciplinary team member caring for the children with developmental disabilities the remainder of the day. CME 30 category A-or 30 CEU credits, PT, OT, ST credits are awarded to each participant. Graduate credit is available for this course through several regional universities. This course won "Outstanding Professional Course of the Year" by the American Academy of Pediatrics at its annual meeting in Washington, DC in 1999.
